Ideal for Ultra and long-distance trail runners and hikers who want maximum cushion, a wide toe box, zero drop, and dependable Vibram grip for all-day mountain efforts, including with a pack.
Trail shoes in NORMA's database last between 320 and 850 km across 315 models. At 570 km, the Altra Olympus 7 sits in the lower half of that range.
The Altra Olympus 7 is a max-cushion, zero-drop trail shoe built for long days in the mountains, ultramarathons, and heavy-pack hikes. The updated EGO MAX midsole is lighter and softer than before (Altra cites 15% lighter, 10% softer), delivering a thick, forgiving ride that fights fatigue over big miles. A Vibram Megagrip outsole with TractionLug lugs supplies strong grip on wet rock, loose dirt, and technical descents. New molded TPU overlays add protection and durability against rocks and roots, while the engineered mesh upper, volume tongue, and comfort collar keep the fit cushy for all-day wear. The signature Original FootShape toe box is roomy, giving toes space to splay and room for swelling late in an ultra. Zero drop keeps the foot in a natural position. At 11.5oz it is not a light or fast shoe, but that is not its job.
